Here is a Kids Science Project

Test how fruit ripens and what makes it ripen faster or slower.

Take 3 apples and place one in the fridge, one at room temperature and one in a very warm area.  Record daily how ripe the fruit is.  Is it getting softer.  What happens to the skin.  Does it change color.  Does it smell.

Now take two piece of a fruit and put one by a window and the other in a closet and record daily the same things as above.

Next take a very ripe banana and a green banana and place them in a paper bag and take two more green bananas and place them in another paper bag.  Record daily what happens to the bananas.  Does the banana with the extra ripe banana get riper quicker than the others.

Next take two pieces of fruit and put one in a Ziploc bag and one sitting out on a counter.  Record daily what each piece of fruit looks like and which one is ripening faster.  Check for softness, color, smell and skin.

This science project or multiple project ideas are wonderful for children and a kids science project for school.

Many kids science projects can be done with eggs.

An egg is an amazing invention by the chicken as it has great strength but yet is easy to access.

We will post more of our egg science projects as we get them done.  In the mean time take a hard boiled egg and a fresh egg and hold them on a counter and try to spin both of them at the same time.  Make sure they don't fall on the floor.  You may do this test on the floor if it is flat.  Which one spins faster?  Why?  Which one spins the longest?  Why?

Do you need to make models for a science project but do't want to buy a lot of material?

You can make your own home made type of dough or clay

Here is the recipe:

2 cups flour

1 cup sale

4 tsp cream of tarter

2 Tbsp oil

2 cups water

Food coloring

Mix all of the above ingredients except the food coloring and put in a pot on the stove top.

Cook this on high stirring constantly for 1 to 3 minutes until it reaches the consistency of a dough.

When it is done you can turn it out onto aluminum foil and allow it to cool.

If you want a certain color you can add a few drops of food coloring before you cook it.

You can also mix in food coloring after it is done.  Keep in mind that you will n

You need to put the food coloring the the center of a ball and work the dough around it and keep it centered so that you do not get your hands full of dye.

You can store this in a zip type of plastic baggie for a month and use it as needed.

It is not to be eaten.  It is for making items that require you to shape things into a model for a science project.
