Science Fair Topic - Hypothesis

Your science fair topic is your "Hypothesis".  This means that you want to see something happen in this procedure.  If you statement is “What happens to teeth when exposes to colored soda, tea and coffee?”  Your hypothesis could be “the darker the drink the quicker teeth will be darkened and absorb that color”.

You will want to correctly structure your hypothesis.  An example would be saying that drinking green tea is better for your teeth.  This cannot be measured but state that the darker the drink is so that you cannot see light though it makes the teeth stain quicker after drinking that substance. "Better" cannot be measured.  You need a hypothesis that can be proved in a measurable way. For example, "more water will make the grass germinate quicker."

It is not a problem is your science project does not prove your hypothesis.  There is a chance that something could happen during your experiment to change the results of your project.  It is not the end but something you discovered that affected the results of your experiment and shows that it is not always the exact results.

Always do research before you decide on your hypothesis.  Get information from your teacher, parents, newspaper, magazines, etc.  You could call a lab and ask to speak to a scientist and see if they can give you any good insight.
