Is your Experiment 8th Grade Science Project Ready?

Try this for your 8th grade middle school experiment.

WHAT Beverages stain your teeth the most?

Call a local dentist to ask if you can get some teeth from them.  (Of course already washed and sanitized,

You should set your question for your science project and determine now which beverage will stain teeth the most in the same amount of time.

Get together 4 glasses.  In one glass place coffee in another place grape juice (the purple colored stuff - not white grade juice!).  In the 3rd glass place tomato juice and in the last use a soda pop.

Now put a tooth in each glass and let it sit overnight.

The next morning drain each liquid and remove each tooth to a paper towel.  Pat each one dry and place them next to each other for observation.  Note any discolorations either blotchy coloring or full staining.

Which beverage was worse for the teeth?  Did any clean them better than they were when you started the experiment.

You can even ask your dentist if it is possible to cut the teeth in half to see how far the staining may have gone into the teeth from a side view.

Make sure to graph your findings.

See High School Science Project for an experiment using these same type of teeth to see which product cleans them better
